3 DAYS!!!

So I fly to Orlando on Sunday! I cannot believe it is almost time to go and I'll be there in no time! Scary but oh so exciting too! So, in the last 5 weeks I've finished all of my uni work, bought LOTS more clothes (in fact too many!), thought about and dreading packing, said my goodbyes to my lovely friends, did Evolution festival etc etc. I'm going out for tea tonight with my family and Matthew to have a leaving meal and today has to be the day I finally pack! Tomorrow I'm spending my last day properly with Matthew then heading down to Manchester on Saturday to stay the night before with Vicky :) Bottle of wine at the ready, let's start this summer in style!

Less than 5 weeks to go...

Eeeeek! I can't believe how fast time is flying!

5 weeks time and I'll have spent 2 nights in my new home for 3 months!  Starting to get a right mixture of emotions - scared, nervous, excited etc. The lovely May people have been posting updates since Sunday and I'm already addicted! It's making me feel more excited looking at all the fun they're up to! Looks like they are having a fab time so far - so jealous of the Typhoon Lagoon pool party last night! Won't be long til us Juners are there too! Literally just polished off my 5th assignment of the year, 2 to go til I'm finished! Woo!!

$200 is a lot of money!

Just paid my programme assessment fee (that sorts out housing etc) and my medical insurance! My bank account is most certainly not liking me at the minute! Although a cheery message like this one certainly eased the blow:

Greetings from the Walt Disney World Resort!. You are about to embark on the journey of a lifetime with International Programs. We hope you are as excited to join our team as we are to have you!

36 days! :)

Happy girl :)

So today I'm super happy because I have a absolutely amazing boyfriend! Randomly got me these beaut Disney Couture earings to cheer me up from all my uni work to add to the bracelets he bought me 2 Christmas' ago! (Yes, you don't have to tell me how lucky I am!) <3 LOVE him so much!

Been up since half 7 working on rubbish uni work but this picture definitely made me smile! Feel like I can associate with the madness! :)

6 weeks to go...

Okay, so we've established I need more practise at this blogging situation!

So to pull you up to date - I now have my AMAZING hoodie! I'm so pleased I went with plum! It's beaut! Will have to post a picture when I get round to it :)

I now also have my Visa! Had a two day trip to London with mammy bear but I'm never short of a drama! I was stressed at it is going to the American Embassy - getting all my documents sorted and worrying about the rather strange hole that appeared on my finger (if you have cuts or blisters they can make you come back to ensure they have your correct prints!) Well documents and cuts aside - I went through to the security to get myself checked and the man informs me I have a torch! I insisted I didn't and guess what, I did! A month or so ago, me and Matthew (the boyfriend) went to the seaside and played on the penny slots and randomly won these daft little keyrings that were animals and torches! One had broke off my keys and was lying in the bottom of my bag! After disposing of the cow all went fine!

The poor cow that's now in a London bin!

Met up with the absolutely lovely Laura, Fatou, Hannah and Emily. My appointment was meant to be 11.30am and I didn't get out til nearly 4 hours later :( urgh! All went well though, flirty strange security guard aside ha! :) Visa approved and I enjoyed the rest of my trip with my mam! Sweeney Todd and Shrek were great :) Had a bit nosey around and visited South Bank! Me and mam also visited Leo Bancroft's salon after our visit to This Morning and his promise of a free hair do for my mam in his salon! Got mine done too :)

So it is indeed 6 weeks until I fly today! SCARY! Infact, I will have landed by now! EEEK! Started my summer clothes shopping today so I'm feeling a little better about the clothing, or lack of, situation!

Counting down the days til the 24th May, as that's my last hand in at uni! Then I can officially start getting excited and be more committed to blogging!

Ciao for now :)

Welcome to my blog :)

Well, here goes...

Thought it was about time I set up my blog in preparation for my Summer in Walt Disney World.  I can't even write that without thinking it's all just some kind of whirl wind dream! I've decided to do a blog for a couple of reasons.
1) To keep track of all my time in Orlando! As I want to be able to remember it all! I suppose this is a bit like dear diary!
2) So my family and friends back home can keep up to date with what I'm up to (and I remember myself - cue terrible memory!)
3) Because I can :)

I may as well give a background of how I got here, as it hasn't been a quick or easy process!  I've absolutely loved all things Disney since I was little! Holidayed to Walt Disney World Orlando 3 times and visited the Paris park a few times too! And I absolutely love the place! (PS sorry if I go off on tangents!)

I applied for the Walt Disney World International College Programme back in September through a company called Yummy Jobs.  I didn't even know it was possible to work for Disney until a couple of months before after some good old research via the good old google.  A friend from uni did the programme last summer and that's what got the ball rolling! After completing the online application, I got invited to a telephone interview.  This consisted off about an 8 minute conversation about - why I wanted to work for Disney etc etc - I had prepared quite well and it had paid off.  A couple of weeks later I got invited to a face to face interview at Northumbria Uni, and after a very long and nervous wait the day came! It was a lovely day really, we had a brilliant presentation from two very nice people from Disney and they were very Disney too! There was about 50 people at the interview - some of which were applying for the year academic programme as a part of their uni course. After the presentation, we were given our interview times and sent away - I think I had about a 4 hour gap! My nerves were shattered by this point! I bumped into Becki the girl I was being interviewed with waiting outside to see Nick from yummy jobs to check out forms etc.  We interview together and it went well! I was all ready for all the awkward questions and it was very informal and chatty! I think it was 3 weeks later I got my email telling me I had a place! It was probably one of the most exciting moments of my life! I was a little nervous to have been given Housekeeping as my role but after speaking to a couple of people who did the role previously and a bit more googling it made me feel more relaxed.  Probably should mention the wdwip.com website at this point - the discussion forum was invaluable! As was Joanne Lister - my lovely friend from uni who helped me through the application and interview process!

So bringing my Disney application more up to date - things are quite slow going at the moment.  I've booked my flights - 10th June from Manchester with some amazing people! Met up and already made some fantastic friends who I know will absolutely make my summer! Paid my CRB check and ordered my hoody - I went with plum in the end! Carly did an absolutely brilliant job of designing them!  The facebook group was been really good for keeping in touch with fellow cast members too!

I think for my first blog, this will be quite enough :) I've blabbed enough as it is! I hope I haven't bored you all too much ;)

Have a magical day x
