Well, here goes...
Thought it was about time I set up my blog in preparation for my Summer in Walt Disney World. I can't even write that without thinking it's all just some kind of whirl wind dream! I've decided to do a blog for a couple of reasons.
1) To keep track of all my time in Orlando! As I want to be able to remember it all! I suppose this is a bit like dear diary!
2) So my family and friends back home can keep up to date with what I'm up to (and I remember myself - cue terrible memory!)
3) Because I can :)
I may as well give a background of how I got here, as it hasn't been a quick or easy process! I've absolutely loved all things Disney since I was little! Holidayed to Walt Disney World Orlando 3 times and visited the Paris park a few times too! And I absolutely love the place! (PS sorry if I go off on tangents!)
I applied for the Walt Disney World International College Programme back in September through a company called Yummy Jobs. I didn't even know it was possible to work for Disney until a couple of months before after some good old research via the good old google. A friend from uni did the programme last summer and that's what got the ball rolling! After completing the online application, I got invited to a telephone interview. This consisted off about an 8 minute conversation about - why I wanted to work for Disney etc etc - I had prepared quite well and it had paid off. A couple of weeks later I got invited to a face to face interview at Northumbria Uni, and after a very long and nervous wait the day came! It was a lovely day really, we had a brilliant presentation from two very nice people from Disney and they were very Disney too! There was about 50 people at the interview - some of which were applying for the year academic programme as a part of their uni course. After the presentation, we were given our interview times and sent away - I think I had about a 4 hour gap! My nerves were shattered by this point! I bumped into Becki the girl I was being interviewed with waiting outside to see Nick from yummy jobs to check out forms etc. We interview together and it went well! I was all ready for all the awkward questions and it was very informal and chatty! I think it was 3 weeks later I got my email telling me I had a place! It was probably one of the most exciting moments of my life! I was a little nervous to have been given Housekeeping as my role but after speaking to a couple of people who did the role previously and a bit more googling it made me feel more relaxed. Probably should mention the wdwip.com website at this point - the discussion forum was invaluable! As was Joanne Lister - my lovely friend from uni who helped me through the application and interview process!
So bringing my Disney application more up to date - things are quite slow going at the moment. I've booked my flights - 10th June from Manchester with some amazing people! Met up and already made some fantastic friends who I know will absolutely make my summer! Paid my CRB check and ordered my hoody - I went with plum in the end! Carly did an absolutely brilliant job of designing them! The facebook group was been really good for keeping in touch with fellow cast members too!
I think for my first blog, this will be quite enough :) I've blabbed enough as it is! I hope I haven't bored you all too much ;)
Have a magical day x
